Manga & Anime Fanart

This gallery features my attempts at recreating characters from some of my favorite Manga and/or Anime-series.

Safeguard (2019-03-31)
A safeguard exterminator unit from the manga series "Blame!".

Blame! had been one of my absolute favorites since I got my hands on the first volume back in the early 2000s, not just because of the dark, dystopian setting, but also the stunning architecture.

This manga served as a huge inspiration for my own RPG mini campaign "Cyberia - The Dark City", which started as a Star Wars spin-off in a dark parallel universe.

Since I wanted to include some elements from Blame! into my campaign, but didn't want to give away where I got the inspiration from, I drew this safeguard-unit from memory.
Priss (colored) (2004-05-31)
This is Priss Asagiri, one of the main characters from the Anime-series "Bubblegum Crisis", wearing her leather biker-outfit. She's a tough biker and a famous rock-singer with her band "Priss and the Replicants". Only few know that she's also a member of the "Knight Sabers", a 4-girl mercenary group who fight with armoured battlesuits against the high-tech megacon "Genom" and it's deadly Boomer-androids.

The ink-version of this picture is a bit older, but I recently wanted to try coloring with Copic Markers, so this is my first attempt. I only bought the 12-color starter set, so not all colors may look like the original, but I still like the outcome.
Priss (2002-02-28)
The inked picture of Priss. I was very much into "Bubblegum Crisis" at that time. I even bought the BGC-roleplaying game and played a session as GM (gamemaster), but the interest from the players' side wasn't that great and they went back to playing Shadowrun instead. Oh well... My second try to draw Priss, the first is a quick sketch and doesn't look good at all.
Bonenkai 2001 (2001-12-01)
I was at the Bonenkai 2001, another big German Anime-convention, in December 2001. On the third day of the convention, I didn't know what else to do so I sat down and started to draw while watching the cosplay event. And that's what this picture is about: On the right Jesse of Team Rocket from Pockemon (who was hosting the event), in the middle Jeanne from Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne and on the left my own character Michiru who sneaked up on the stage and looks quite embarrassed. ;)
Lina in Motion (colored) (2000-12-30)
In an attempt at coloring a finished picture on the computer I took my tablet and tried my best with the airbrush-function. It looks a bit odd, but well, for a first try...
Lina warning(2000-09-15)
Lina Inverse from "Slayers" again, one of my favorite fanart-characters. This was meant as an illustration on a "Do and Don't" poster for the conventions of our roleplaying club, but was never used. I like it because it is one of the few pictures where I got the hands about right, I guess.
Lina in Motion (2000-09-14)
Another picture of Lina Inverse, where I've tried to do speedlines for the first time. I think this is a very dynamic picture.
Lina Inverse (2000-09-13)
Slayers was one of my abolute favorite Mangas and so it's no surprise that I've tried to draw Lina Inverse. I've tried to do a good shading in this picture and so I messed up a few other things.
Pikachu (2000-08-31)
As I've been watching the first season of Pokemon on TV I've tried several times to draw pikachu, since it seemed one of the easy-to-draw Pokemon, but it never came out like the original. Then some night I saw an episode where Pikachu sneaks up onto Team Rocket, and just before frying them it has this evil grin on it's face and I just KNEW I had to draw this. And here it is. Pikachu never looked better! Hehehe!
Sailor Neptune (2000-05-31)
My favorite Sailor Senshi, Sailor Neptune.

This character was the inspiration for creating my own character Michiru. But besides the names and their blue hair and a few other little things they don't have much in common anymore. Colored with colored pencils.
