Fantasy Artwork

This gallery contains all fantasy pictures that are not manga-style and not furry-related. Some pictures were created or enhanced using a computer, others are "handmade", but all are related to (high-)fantasy.

Earthdawn: Vara (2007-03-10)
After some break I decided to give it a new try to portray some of my roleplaying-characters. This is the third this year so far and it shows Vara Pak-Ti, one of my Earthdawn characters. She's an archer and scout and came from a primitive jungle-tribe and only recently looted a lost treasure, which gave her enough finances to pay an appartement and buy some civilized clothes. There was also some jewelry in this treasure which she is wearing now.
Earthdawn: Teleria (2003-01-03)
Another try at drawing (almost) realistic portraits of fictional people. This time Teleria, one of my Earthdawn-roleplaying-characters. She's an elven Swordmaster/Horrorstalker/Elementalist and well known for slaying several horrors and successfully completing many quests.
The Dark Eye: Aischa (2003-01-02)
First Attempt to draw a realistic portrait of a fictional character. This is Aischa, a roleplaying-character of mine from "The Dark Eye" ("Das Schwarze Auge" in German). She's a human elementalist mage whose element is the water. Her appearance is supposed to be somewhat oriental, because she's from near the great desert.
Pyramid Lake 2 (2002-11-30)
Some kind of pyramid surrounded by a lake and some rocky spires. This picture was made using the Terragen 3D-terrain-creator program. It was my first try with a self-made map from which the program made this 3D landscape.
Pyramid Lake (2002-11-29)
Another view of Pyramid Lake from a different angle.
Drake Lake (2002-11-28)
This was also made with Terragen, but the terrain was created using the random-terrain feature of Terragen and slightly modified afterwards. This landscape seemed so barren that I decided to put in the shape of a small drake.
Land of Adventures (2002-07-02)
Another attempt, this time I drew a landscape full of beasts and plants and other stuff, so it would look a bit more alive. The road-sign reads "Land of Adventures" in rune letters. I've tried to make the road look kinda "inviting" for any adventure-seekers almost as if they could jump right into the picture.
Landscape (2002-07-01)
Most of my pictures still lack a decent background because I just had no idea how to draw one. Then, some day, a good friend of mine named Michael Grotzke taught me how to draw simple backgrounds. This is one of my first attempts. It still looks kind of ... empty or so.
Castle on a Cliff - shaded (2001-07-02)
This was my part of a collaboration for creating a title-image for our old club-magazine. The other was a dragon and a rider created by Daniela Reichelt.
This is actually the second version of this picture. It was inked and then shaded with a pencil.
Castle on a Cliff - computer colored (2001-07-01)
The first version of the castle-picture. After scanning the inked original I wandted to experiment a bit and see if I could shade it with the computer as well. And I like the result, even though it looks a bit more "artificial" this way.
Sword and Staff (2000-05-31)
Based on the Clublogo (see below) I decided to draw Aischa's magic weapons: Her wizard's staff and her magic sword, whith which she can hurt even daemons and banish them. The staff has a blue sphere on top that can glow as bright as a torch to light dark rooms. The sword has a curved blade which points to Aischa's cultural heritage. The glyph in the middle is the letter "A" from one of the mages' alphabets.
Clublogo (2000-05-30)
Our old roleplaying club back then needed an official club-logo. We made a little contest and this was my entry. The logo features a poleaxe and a lute, which makes for a little word play (in German) with the club's name "Helle Barden". That name could mean "Poleaxes" as well as "Bright Bards", and is - by the way - the German title of a Discworld novel (Men at Arms). Meanwhile, the club doesn't exist anymore.
Utram's Axe (2000-03-31)
A picture right from our roleplaying session. During a fight late at night the dwarf Utram threw his axe after an escaping bandit, but he missed and the axe disappeared in the dark night. The next day he found his axe again, and he was quite mad, for some kids had found it earlier and had tied their new swing up on it 'cause it stuck so hard in the tree.
