Manga-style Artwork (Colored)

This gallery features pictures drawn in Manga-style and colored with traditional media like standard colored pencils, aquarelle pencils or Polychromos, a special sort of crayon-pencils based on oil instead of wax which makes the colors brighter etc.  Some pictures are also enhanced with computer created elements like a background etc. I consider this still a traditionally colored picture.

Summer Trance (2009-05-13)
Based on the sexy pose sketch I came up with a different set of clothes for a more relaxed occasion in a lush summer night.
Trance (2009-05-12)
The colored version of the Trance posing picture.
Am Strand (2007-12-28)
My Star Wars smuggler Trance Killian is relaxing at the beach while a modified R2-unit serves cool drinks.

I wanted to do this for a long time. Though I'm not fully satisfied with the pose and her face I really love the R2-unit. I think it turns out great and it definitely adds a whole lot to the Star Wars look and feel. And a full background, yay.
Teleria (2007-12-27)
The colored picture of my Earthdawn swordmaster and Horror-Stalker Teleria of K'than.

I love how her skin and hair came out. Best picture of Teleria to date.
Shayleen (2007-12-26)
This is the colored version of the b/w Picture of my Earthdawn mage Shayleen. She was abducted by slavers as a child from her African home into the servitude of a Theran Lord who treated her well. When he was killed she had to flee for her life and is now well renowned among the adventuring folk roaming the country of Barsaive for lost treasures.

The pyramids in the back are taken from the box set of Parlainth, the forgotten city. I am very proud that I managed to create a full background for this picture.
Vara (2007-12-25)
Vara Pak-Ti, one of my most played Earthdawn characters. She's an archer and scout which makes her runic bow her favorite weapon.

You may ask why she's green like a she-hulk. Well, the description of the jungle tribe where she grew up states that the jungle people often have an "olive" skin tone. I took that a bit too literal, I guess. :)
Shootout (2007-12-24)
As a smuggler, Trance Killian often gets herself into a mess that sometimes can't be settled by other means than a firefight. Here, she's standing on a little walkway, leaning over to fire a few shots at her pursuers while the bulkhead door of the Hangar closes.
Tatooine Sunrise (2007-04-10)
Another picture of Trance Killian.

I really liked the picture with Trance wearing party clothes, but since this was Star Wars I wanted her to show off in a bit more "casual" clothes. Clothes that she might wear during her normal job being a smuggler, going to smoky bars to get hold of a new job, be it legal cargo or contraband.

So, here she is in her "normal" clothing, carrying her heavy blaster pistol at her side and sipping on a "Tatooine Sunrise" cocktail, that's what we nicknamed our in-game version of a Tequila Sunrise.
Party (2007-04-01)
This is my Star Wars character Trance Killian wearing her disco/party clothes as she's attending the inofficial celebration of her victory in a race contest. And she hopes that her ex-boyfriend will attend the party as well...

I know I messed up several aspects of this picture, like too short arms and fingers and stuff, but unlike the screwed portrait of Trance I really like this picture because it shows her more like I imagine her to look like.
Happyrun (2002-05-31)
I started the sketch for this picture in fall 2001, but left it unfinished until about May 2002. It was the running-pose I saw in a "How to draw Manga"-book that inspired me for this picture, and I felt that Michiru should look a bit happier, so that's it. The face of the left figure I messed up a bit, but I love the expression on the big face on the right. Colored with Polychromos.
SD-self-portrait (2001-06-09)
This is the first time that I've tried to draw a picture of my real-life self. But since I'm not good at realistic drawings I made it an SD-manga picture. It was colored with polychromos. The colors are a bit weak, but that's because I used a different coloring technique back then.... I think I've learned to do it better now... Note: Of course, I look a lot different now. ;)
Bluedress (2001-05-24)
I started drawing this picture sometime in February 2001, but never got finished until May. It features Michiru dressed up to attend a ball or such.

It was colored with polychromos and the background was added with a computer.... maybe I'll draw a "real" background one day, but I'm still bad at drawing landscapes or furniture... ;)
SD Nel (2001-01-04)
This cute little girl here is my friend Nelena (her real-life appearance, to be exact). It was the first picture I drew in 2001 and also the first one I used my own polychromos for coloring.
Nel gave me a little lesson on how to draw SD-characters and I promptly practiced it with this picture of her... Thanks, Nel! :)

The T-shirt she's wearing on this picture also exists in real-life featuring one of her own furry pictures.
Dhana in Despair (2000-11-21)
One of my first short stories (see the Library-part of the Realm as soon as it's online) featured this heroine called Dhana. In a medieval/fantasy setting she is a warrioress who fights against evil and who is prophesied a great destiny...
But on this picture she's deeply despaired because she fought valiantly to save her best friend from being burned as a witch on a firestack, but she came too late...

The first time I inked the original of a drawing and I made several mistakes. Coloring was done with color pencils.
Michiru (2000-10-15)
This was the first time I drew my own character Michiru. Though originally based on Michiru Kaiou from Sailor Moon, this character has developed her own identity.

Colored with color pencils. Background added on the computer.
