Background

Nick Slater was a fairly average kid and barely made it through high school. Since he had always been fascinated by police work he decided to attend police school and became a police officer in Arkham, Massachusetts. He considered it his personal duty to serve and protect the people, as the police code stated, and to hunt down criminals. So he served for 6 years, until his partner was shot on duty by unknown gangsters. Nick did some research and was shocked to discover corruption within the ranks of the Arkham Police Department. His efforts were foiled by the highest authorities and the whole case was swept under the rug. When he tried to investigate on his own he was suspended.

So he quit his police job and now runs his own investigation office which yields just enough for him to survive. The corruption within the police and the fact that he was powerless to do anything about it, as well as the still unsettled case of his dead partner let the open minded, friendly and helpful police officer become a closed, distrusting and cynical man who – despite the prohibition – likes to drown his sorrow in alcohol.

Nevertheless, within Nick still is the helpful officer who will serve and protect the innocent and is not afraid to put his life on the line for people in need – even against nightmarish creatures which he had several run-ins with already.

Physical Description

Nick is fairly tall and slender, but not very strong. He has black hair, brown eyes and usually sports a three-day-beard which lends his edgy face an even darker and sober expression.

He usually wears a crinkled black or grey suit and never leaves the house without hat and trenchcoat, which is also crinkled. Most of the time he’s chewing on a cold cigarette.
