Background

Teleria of K’than is an elven swordmaster who has also learned the disciplines of horror stalker and elementalist. She has garnered quite a bit of renown over the years and is pretty well known across the land of Barsaive.

Teleria was born shortly before the end of the Scourge into the noble elven family of K’than who were leaders of a small kaer south of Wyrmwood. Contrary to the elven court’s superstition the K’than family and their small town had opted to build an underground kaer as proposed by the dwarven scholars of Throal. Thus they had a peaceful time underground and should have emerged gloriously after the horrors had faded.

But the horrors hadn’t faded and when the kaer first opened up, many brave fighters were wounded or killed, including the parents of the T’dhara siblings. Teleria’s father took the two girls in and treated them like they were his own children, making Teleria envious of them. This escalated when her father, a brilliant swordmaster, not only took Teleria as his apprentice, but also Miara T’dhara. The two girls became bitter rivals for the favor of her father, until Teleria one day decided that she no longer wanted to stand in the shadows of her lowborn rival, and took her leave in the dead of night.

She went to Throal and found a mercenary group that regularly searched for and raided lost kaers and made a name for herself. After several years of slaying horrors Teleria fell victim to a foul plot of a fallen questor who infused her with demonic taint in order to corrupt her into becoming host for another horror. She survived only by sheer willpower and the acquisition of a crystal vial that imbued her blood with a natural defense mechanism that would hurt any horror trying to physically hurt her.

Since she now was hardened against horror incursions Teleria agreed to her comrade Lessilas initiating her into the discipline of horror stalker, which not only fit her darkened mood, but also resulted in her darker style of clothing and her interest in body piercing.

Some time later while on a mission together with her band of mercenaries Teleria was captured by a dark sorcerer while her comrades had to retreat. The Sorcerer recognized her dark potential and raped her for several days until her companions finally were able to rescue her and kill her tormentor. But soon Teleria discovered that she had become pregnant and so she returned to Throal, where a friend of hers had a town house. There she gave birth to her son Fellin.

 

When not going out on adventures (usually to slay horrors) Teleria lives with her teenage son Fellin in her house that she inherited from her late friend Celissa in Bartertown. To earn her living she works as a squad leader for the Bartertown citizen guard service.

Physical Description

Teleria has tanned skin, long, black hair and blue eyes. She is around 60 years old, but anyone familiar with elven appearance would rather guess her to be 75, due to a vile horror that has aged her more quickly before she had been able to kill it. She stands 1,94m tall, which is pretty average for an elf, and her slender build makes her appear soft and fragile, while in reality she is more resilient than even trolls or obsidimen and that has saved her life and that of her comrades more than once.

In battle Teleria, relies more on her agility than heavy, hindering armor. So she can hardly ever be seen in more than a hardened leather armor. The armor is shaped after her body and the leather is studded with silver rivets. Her shoulderpads usually hold a long black cloak. Under the armor she wears a compact black leather dress whose skirt is also covered with riveted black leather stripes. Her Belt holds two sword sheaths, a whip and a few other leather pouches. A pair of spike-gloves and hardened black leather boots add to her martial appearance. Her jewelry consists of silver bracelets on her upper arms, silver hoop earrings in her pointed ears and a silver choker with an oval onyx.

Her main weapons are a pair of (yet) relatively plain longswords which were expertly balanced by a master-weaponsmith to maximize efficiency in combat. Teleria can swing these with deadly grace. For emergencies she also carries a dagger and a whip on her belt, which she seldom puts to use. Instead she now relies more on her magic abilities to call the 5 elements of nature to her aid and uses them as deadly weapons. She keeps several spellcasting-supplies ready in her belt pouches all the time. When she’s on horseback Teleria usually carries a relaxed bow and a quiver of arrows strapped to her saddle.

When Teleria visits a tavern or some other place that doesn’t require her full aromor she usually wears her traveller’s garb, which is in fact worn under her armor. Even though Teleria’s style of clothing had become darker when she adopted the Horror stalker discipline she still is a swordmaster first and foremost and will do anything to stand out from the crowd.

Teleria’s traveller’s outfit is as black as her armor and consists of a short black leather dress with black leather boots. Her long, black hair either flows openly or is tied up in a variety of hairstyles depending on how she feels like at the moment. She always wears her silver choker with the oval onyx stone in it, plus matching broad silver bracers with similar onyx stones. Her upper arms are adorned with silver bracelets and silver earrings sparkle in her pointed ears. Her fingernails are polished black and she wears an inconspicuous plain silver or stone ring on each of her middle fingers.

When at home in her house in Bartertown or when going out with friends in the big city Teleria likes to dress scantily, usually in a short top and a short or medium length skirt, both in fashionable colors (fashionable in human or elven terms, not bright and colorful like the gaudy dwarven fashion). Depending on the exact place she adds boots, shoes, sandals or even goes on bare foot. Her long hair offers plenty opportunity for styling and Teleria makes good use of that. Her finger- and toenails – if visible – sparkle with black, purple or dark blue polish, and she never seems to take off her Onyx-choker (because it is a concealed blood charm with a death cheat enchantment). Besides some plain rings and upper arm bracelets her bangles and earrings vary in a broad spectrum.
