Background
At first glance Liliana Killian looks like a normal young woman who just reached adulthood. When she’s with her official twin sister Shanta Killian all doubts are washed away as the two look almost exactly alike, making the twin-story believable. In fact, their genetic structure is absolutely identical, because Shanta’s current body is a clone of her old body – which now belongs to Liliana. How this came to be is a very twisted tale.
It all began when Nar Shaddaa kingpin Reelo Baruk acquired the logistics company of Shanta’s mom and aunt through a clever transaction and summoned his department leader Dar’Shok Utka, in charge of the company, to report back to Nar Shaddaa. Since Shanta had evaded Reelo for some time this was the perfect opportunity for him to seize control of the girl so he could abuse her as his new pleasure- and force-slave. Shanta had foreseen this and had prepared her body and mind for the ordeal because she wanted to spare Dar any punishment if he failed to bring her along.
But shortly after their arrival the moon was destabilized by imperial agents who had sabotaged one of the primary structural integrity generators. Dar led a team of friends into Nar Shaddaa’s underbelly and they managed to defeat the imperial forces. But then it was up to the technicians to try to avert critical mass of the generator and thus prevent a collapse of a large portion of the moon’s city structure. In this moment, Dar had illusions of grandeur and wanted to buy the techies more time by absorbing some of the generators overflowing energy with the force. Too late he realized the magnitude of the generators power and met a swift and brutal end, having been tossed through several walls and into what had been a solid steel plate.
This should have been his demise because not even his robust Barabel physique could withstand such raw force. But Shanta, unwilling to let her friend die like this, tried to bring him back with the force, pouring all of her life force into Dar. It seemed to work, Dar’s wounds were closing and he survived long enough for a bacta-treatment to do the rest. Shanta collapsed and everyone assumed that she was only exhausted.
Little did they know that Shanta had indeed transferred all of her life force – including her life essence and personality – into Dar. While the Barabel started to get better and developed more and more personality traits inherent to Shanta, they came to the realization that Shanta’s body was alive, but devoid of her memory, personality and spirit. Her consciousness was a blank slate and was formed anew by interactions with the people around her. This new consciousness called itself Ki’Sha Brightstar, since Reelo’s aspiring and gullible physician had known Shanta by that alias. He also explained to Ki’Sha that she had the tremendous honor of serving as the revered Reelo Baruk’s private secretary. Reelo’s pleasure slave, the twi’lek Myna, confirmed that the revealing attire and all the chains and piercings were coveted status symbols of her special position and so Ki’Sha believed them and accepted it as her life goal to please her master.
Shanta’s adopted sister Kenny was devastated by these events and she frantically tried to convince the gullible girl that she was someone else entirely, but Ki’Sha was nothing more than a husk of a personality at that time.
Then it came to pass that Reelo Baruk was killed in a violent gunfight against Jedi Kyle Katarn. Quickly, the group fled Nar Shaddaa and took Ki’Sha with them to find out how they could restore the original Shanta. Thus began an odyssey halfway across the galaxy from one disembodied Jedi-master to the next until they met the Sith lord Dar knew as “Darkstar”. The powerful Sith had taken over the body of former Sith-apprentice Rae van Ker who had been killed in their previous encounter, and now called herself Rae Carson. She agreed on helping them return Shanta’s spirit to her body in exchange for their support with an expedition to the ancient Sith-homeworld Korriban.
All this time Ki’Sha watched her surroundings and listened to what the people were talking about and learned quickly. Especially the fact that they kept telling her that they would “reunite” her with this Shanta-person frightened her as she felt that they would happily sacrifice her to get this other person back. Her fears were confirmed when Rae revealed to Dar that she would be able to teach him the ritual to transfer a spirit into another body, but it could only be performed on an empty vessel. They would have had to kill Ki’Sha before they could bring Shanta back.
When this discussion was brought up Ki’Sha requested political asylum with the New Republic, represented by Lieutenant Jarosh Mok. She made clear that she was a unique thinking and feeling being and did not want to be “snapped off”. The following discussion was quite controversial, but in the end the grave of the Sith that Rae was going for on Korriban held the key for their problem: Rae had inherited a mysterious power that her former adversary had infused in her body. This power enabled her to relive a few moments in the lifespan of this body and change a few things along the way. Since this power also slowly corroded her body and she would have had to use it soon anyway Rae agreed to a desperate plan: Equipped with the knowledge of how Grand-Admiral Thrawn had accomplished to breed force-sensitive clones a few years ago during his campaign to overthrow the New Republic they went back 18 years to have Rae purchase a non-conscious custom clone body with a sample of Shanta’s DNA and a living Ysalamir.
The ritual was successful, even though two group members were seriously injured during the process. Rae kept her word and taught Dar how to extract Shanta’s spirit from his own body and banish her into a Sith burial urn. This technique put a heavy strain on the Barabel as it brought him closer to the dark side than ever before, but he knew it was the only chance he and Shanta had to survive. It all worked out well and the group took the urn to planet Vohai where the perfectly crafted, 18-year old clone body was waiting for pickup. After the body was taken out of the spaarti-cylinder, the umbilical cord was cut and the body cleaned up, Kenny brought the urn and opened it next to the body. Exactly as Rae had promised a black swirl of dust emerged from the urn and burned itself into the left forearm in a similar pattern as before, only this time it consisted of many stars in all shapes and sizes.
Shanta awoke in her new body without any memory of the past few weeks while she had slumbered within Dar. She was quickly brought up to date and then everyone was anxious how she would react to her old body being occupied by a new persona. But Shanta was so happy to finally have a “little” sister so she immediately made friends with Ki’Sha.
It was a bit more difficult to manipulate all official documents to suggest that Shanta had indeed always had a twin sister, so nobody would suspect her to be a clone. In order to make up a believable story Ki’Sha needed a new name. Shanta, who had never used her middle name “Liliana” much before, suggested that this could be a good name for her twin sister. Ki’Sha liked that name and so she was henceforth known as Liliana Killian who had lived with her family clan on Brentaal IV until recently.
Physical Description
Liliana is a young woman with fair skin, emerald eyes and long, curly, blonde hair.
Since she awoke while dressed as a pleasure slave she is used to wearing scant, sexy clothes and lots of jewelry. She can usually be seen wearing short skirts or hot-pants and a revealing top showing her belly button piercing featuring an orange crystal, sometimes embellished with heart-shaped ornaments. A large number of thin bangles are always part of her outfit. Underneath the bracelets black markings are visible on her left forearm that look like a tribal-tattoo made up of lightning bolts. Most of the time Liliana wears a pair of large, thick hoops in her ears and a smaller one in her septum. A close look reveals that all three piercings are stretched to 5mm and the jewelry consists of seamless segment rings. She wears three additional pairs of usually smaller earrings and a helix bar in her left ear. She also frequently sticks out her tongue to show her tongue-piercing. Sometimes she adds jewelry like a tiara, a choker or some anklets or she paints her fingernails in a deep orange color. When going out she usually carries a stun-blaster in her purse.
For adventuring trips Liliana goes for more casual clothes with long pants, long tank top and a jacket. She also keeps her jewelry to a minimum and her piercings as small and unobtrusive as possible. Instead she openly carries her stun-blaster and now also her training lightsaber on her belt.
For covert or dangerous missions Liliana sports a black-and-orange armored suit similar to Shanta's. The suit offers moderate protection without hindering her movement. It includes her weapons belt and a flexible headpiece that leaves out only eyes and mouth.
