Star Wars - Dark Trooper Campaign
Final Episode: Total Eclipse
Chapter 8: Escape
Outside the ritual chamber all crewmen were abandoning ship because both energy cores had become unstable and started to overload. Since the dark troopers still followed their original orders to let nobody escape the republic boarding party soon found themselves side by side with imperial crewmembers who also had to fight the killer cyborgs to get to the escape pods and shuttles.
The last two remaining Imperial-class star destroyers received a transmission from Empress Thul who had been confined to her own quarters by Cyrus after he had learned of her betrayal. With the help of a Sith-acolythe, their partner and her trusted aide she was able to escape the ship and now ordered that all loyal members of the empire should help rescue as many escape pods as possible.
The captains of the “Annihilator” and the “Dominator” promptly reacted and were able to rescue most of the stranded pods before jumping to safety at the last moment. The energy surge within the dual jump cores of the “Heart of the Eclipse” reached critical mass, resulting in a purple explosion of the ship, followed by an implosion and the whole vessel was sucked into a dimensional rift and vanished.
When news broke all remaining imperial ships on all of the related battlefields immediately ceased fighting and instead jumped into hyperspace with destination unknown. Even the ground troops on Farnid III were left behind and surrendered to the republic army, once they realized they were outnumbered.
The rest of strike-team Cresh returned to the “Endurance” where they were rejoined by Luke Skywalker. After a fierce lightsaber fight Inquisitor Vengeanar had managed to escape just in time when things started to go sour. The lifeless body of Trance Killian was brought to medical, but all efforts at reviving her failed, and so she was officially declared dead.
Chapter 9: The Galaxy is saved
The following day all heroes of the “Battle of the Eclipse” were awarded with the specially created “Dark Heart Medal” by Senator Organa-Solo. A special honor was bestowed upon the members of strike-team Cresh, who would henceforth be known as “Protectors of the Galaxy”. The many fighters who had given their lives in this battle were also honored, with Rufos “Nose” Jock among them. He was posthumously awarded the “Arvel-Crynyd Medal” for his selfless sacrifice that had ensured the success of strike-team Besh. Lastly, Trance Killian was honored for her ultimate sacrifice which had restored peace to the galaxy.
After a minute’s silence a mass-space-funeral was held for the fallen republic soldiers whose remains had been recovered. Afterwards a quiet drink was shared so everyone could celebrate victory and bid farewell to those brave heroes who had purchased it with their lives.
Mia De’Ore was devastated by the death of her friend and mentor, and so she invited all who had known Trance personally and had been friends with her to a private memorial ceremony aboard the freighter “Deep Hopper”. Raffael Starchaser, Randrack Dalarn, Sinsua, Nick Rivers (who had quit military service), Su and Chip came to say goodbye.
Mia played back the farewell-message that Trance had given her on that data-chip. In the message, Trance thanked the Twi’lek for being a good friend and an eagerly student and made her ship, the “Deep Hopper”, her final gift to Mia, so she would be independent and could go wherever she wanted. Her shipping company “Galactic Tranceport Ltd.” was gifted to her cousin Ranja Killian who had already taken over the executive role a while ago. Trance’s final wish was that Mia should keep her eyes open for any clues concerning the whereabouts of her daughter Shanta who was still in the custody of her former family clan Ru’killian from Brentaal. Mia vowed that she would do anything to rescue Trance’s daughter and fulfill her final wish.
Then they discussed with Ranja on the holo what was to become of Trance’s mortal remains. The businesswoman said that the clan on Brentaal maintained a burial wall for the urns of their deceased family members, but Trance had only ever known pain and rejection from her clan, so she doubted that being laid to rest there would have been her wish. So they agreed upon having her body cremated and then spread her ash among those places in the galaxy that had held a meaning for Trance.
With this goal in mind their travels continued through a once again peaceful galaxy that continued to exist after this “Battle of the Eclipse”.
